A Healthy Way of Living Through Creative Exercise Solutions

With the cost of health care (and basically everything else) increasing, the best thing we can all do for ourselves is learn how to effectively care for ourselves...and you don't always need a gym to do this! While gyms offer the convenience of having all different types of fitness equipment ready to use, they also provide plenty germs to go around. And while they offer a social and potentially a companionship type of environment (because group classes and lifting with a bud can absolutely be fun!!), they also serve up plenty of judgment and negativity. PROs and CONs to everything in life.

 

The most important thing here is learning to take care of ourselves properly, and Makeshift Fitness aims to contribute towards this end by working with healthy clients interested in starting or wanting to evolve a home / non-gym based workout program, built upon scientifically-backed protocols, geared towards their specific goals. No fancy gimmicks or special secrets: just consistent work on one's self, aiming to build yourself the right way, putting your body into advantageous positions to move functionally throughout the world. There's a lot we can do for our physical (and mental!!) selves at home, in an apartment, outside in the park or yard...sometimes we just need a little help getting started or finding ways to take our routines to a different level...Makeshift Fitness is here to help get ya there!!

Mission

Makeshift Fitness offers tailored personal training focusing on in-home and non-gym options. My mission is to support clients that choose to take an active approach regarding short and long-term self-care.

With a unique blend of education, experience and personality, helping you with your fitness journey allows for the outward expression of my greatest qualities. Together, we'll work to overcome barriers along the way, with the ultimate goal being the development of your own knowledge to subsequently care for yourself.

Approach

Makeshift Fitness offers personalized training to a limited number of clientele at once, and this is intentional. Balance. We need balance in everything. For me to maintain the balance within my own life, and for you to receive the unique experience that is having me for a trainer, I know to not spread myself too thin. The cost for a personal trainer isn't cheap (especially with everything in life seemingly costing more and more). I wear that responsibility to you, that you're choosing to spend your hard earned money on me to help you, and accordingly, I work to maintain the balance needed within my own life for me to give you the awesome product that is having me in your corner! If at some point my schedule opens further, subsequently allowing for increasing the number of clients at once, then we'll all cross that bridge together at that time.

How we choose to work you out depends on a few factors such as your current fitness level, your goals, and activities you might enjoy doing more than others! Makeshift Fitness enjoys building workout programs with VARIETY. Doing the same things over and over and over again just isn't good for the mind or body. We'll develop a few "go-to" resistance-training workouts aligned with your goals and utilizing your current resources wherever you're choosing to exercise, and then we'll fill out your workout week with a combination of your go-to exercises, some types of cardio that you might actually look forward to doing(!!!), and how all of this works into doing other activities (non-workout) throughout the week. Remember: if you workout for 1 hour during the day while being awake for 16 hours, there's 15 hours in there (so, the BULK of the day), where you could be moving yourself towards or away from where you want to be. We'll work together to come up with a schedule that accounts for the demands of your life, while finding ways to make sure that you prioritize YOU. In the end, I am here to help you and push you in the direction that you tell me you want to go: BUT YOU ARE PUTTING IN THE WORK. You put in the work, which is why you get the juicy rewards!
